China doubled rapeseed imports from Russia

Russia exported 4.1 KMT of rapeseed in March 2017, down 27% from the previous month (5.6 KMT). At the same time, this volume is almost seven times larger than in March 2016 (0.6 KMT).

As UkrAgroConsult expected, the current season 2016/17 (July-March) is more favorable to Russian rapeseed exporters than last season. So, in these nine months, rapeseed supplies to foreign markets more than doubled year-on-year, to 61.9 KMT against 25.8 KMT a year earlier.

The range of Russian rapeseed’s export destinations is still no very wide. China, having boosted purchases to 28.8 KMT against 13.5 KMT a year earlier, remains the top importer with an export share of 46%. Iran (24%) and Mongolia (16%) have not only resumed rapeseed purchases from Russia this season, but even become major buyers, having outpaced Germany and Turkey.

Further prospects of the Black Sea oilseeds/vegoils market will be discussed at the V International Conference “Black Sea Oil Trade”, which will take place on September 19, 2017 in Hilton hotel, Kiev, Ukraine.
