China opened the market to American beef for the first time in 14 years


The decision to permit the importation of U.S. beef in China came into force on 20 June

China for the first time since 2003, allowed the import of U.S. beef in the framework of agreements reached with the United States, the message of the chief state administration of PRC for quality control, inspection and quarantine.

China imposed a ban on imports of U.S. beef in 2003 after an outbreak in the U.S. of mad cow disease. Before the United States was the largest supplier of beef in the country.
