China remains the top buyer of Russian rapeseed

Russian rapeseed exports in May 2017 were the lowest since the start of MY 2016/17, at 1.9 KMT, or down more than 61% against April 2017.

In total, Russia exported almost 2.5 times more rapeseed in September-April 2016/17 than at the same time last marketing year. So, exports grew to 68.6 KMT against 27.7 KMT a year ago.

Taking into account insignificant feedstock availabilities in the Central and Siberian federal districts, Russian traders are quite likely to manage to supply at least 70 KMT of rapeseed abroad for the whole current season, UkrAgroConsult notes.

The export structure looks quite stable throughout the current 2016/17 season. So, although China is still the top buyer of rapeseed from Russia (47% of its total exports), having more than doubled feedstock purchases against last season, the three largest importers still include Iran (24%) and Mongolia (17%).
