China to increase purchases of Ukrainian sunoil

The Food Export Board with support from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and within the framework of the Asian ANUFOOD China 2016 exhibition (Beijing) set up a trade mission whose participants include Ukrainian food companies. As a result, they got the first orders from Chinese importers for a number of Ukrainian food commodities, including sunoil.

Noteworthy is that the trade relationship between Ukraine and China in the sunoil market has been developing since as early as 2008, reports UkrAgroConsult. While the first deliveries of the Ukrainian product (MY 2008/09) were made on a trial basis and in small amounts, constant trade relations were established as soon as MY 2015/16 with 620 KMT of sunoil exported to China that year (14% of total exports).

In view of this year’s bumper sunseed crop in Ukraine, which makes it necessary not only to diversify sunoil outlets but also to expand the capacity of available destination markets, the big orders for supply of Ukrainian sunoil were an important outcome of the trade mission.
