Minnesota-based CHS Inc. is planning a grain shuttle loading facility, a 2.2 million bushel storage addition and a dry fertilizer hub plant in the southeastern North Dakota city of Gwinner.

The farmer-owned cooperative’s project would be on a 196-acre campus with a state-of-the-art grain loading facility served by a 120-rail car loop with a 3,800-foot spur track to speed up train loading on the BNSF cars. The grain-loading facility would open in the fall of 2016. The facility will be jointly managed by CHS Dakota Plains in Valley City and CHS Dakota Ag in Kindred.

The fertilizer plant, with a 1,200 ton-per hour receiving system and with plans to open next spring, will be part of CHS Dakota Plains.
