Corn harvest began in Belarus

Farmers in Belarus have started harvesting corn for grain. As of September 18, they harvested 10.72 KMT of corn from 1.62 Th ha with an average yield of 6.62 MT/ha. This year’s total harvest area of corn is projected at 156.3 Th ha, or down 12% from last year, reports UkrAgroConsult.

According to current information of the Ag Ministry of Belarus, farmers harvested cereals and pulses from 2136.1 Th ha (99.1% of the plan) by September 18. They got 7.62 MMT of grain with an average yield of 3.57 MT/ha.

7.01 MMT of grain was harvested from 2102.7 Th ha (99.2%) by the same date in 2016, with an average yield of 3.33 MT/ha.

Farmers in Belarus have also started sowing winter cereals. As of the reporting date, this work was complete on 511.7 Th ha (40.1% of the projected 1276.6 Th ha). 616 Th ha (45.8% of the plan) was sown by this date last year.
