Corn planting reaches 76% of surface in Paraná, but area drops over 30%

According to official data of the Brazilian state of Paraná, after 40 days without any rain drop, nearly 76% of the corn surface was already planted. However, the area is 33% smaller than the previous year. Even though planting conditions were not ideal, most producers could finish work within the right window.

The reason for the shrunk acres is that most farmers switched to soybeans that pay three times more for the producer. A soybean bag of 60 kg is now worth US$ 18.90 in the state.
