Corn sowing started in Russia


As of April 7, early spring crops were seeded on the area of 2 Mln ha (1.5 Mln ha in 2016) or 3.7% of the intended area (52681.2 Th ha). Early spring grains were seeded on an area of 1.2 Mln ha (911.8 Th ha in 2016) or 3.8% of the intended area. This includes spring wheat planted on an area of 80.2 Th ha (0.6% of forecast), spring barley on 662.6 Th ha (8.6%) and corn for grain on 4.1 Th ha (0.1%), reports UkrAgroConsult.

Russian winter cereals had already been fertilized on roughly 9.1 Ml ha (52.3% of their planted area) by April 7, 2017 (8.7 Ml ha in 2016).
