DDGS in high demand in South Korea

In South Korea, one of the world’s largest and most competitive feed markets, DDGS is considered an established and superior feed ingredient. Up to 96% of local feed producers use it in their rations. Growth in the South Korean livestock and corn processing industries has meant the country’s demand for coarse grains and co-products has increased and is expected to grow steadily in the future.

South Korea currently ranks as the second largest market for US DDGS. From September 2017-March 2018, it purchased 639,000 tonnes, a 6% increase over the previous period. “We will continue to expand the specialised and customised on-site consultation programs for feed companies to use US DDGS at the recommended levels,” said Haksoo Kim, USGC Director in South Korea. By 2020, the council targets to export 1.2 million tonnes of DDGS to the country.
