During the reporting week (July 20-27), CBOT wheat prices went down 5.14%

The US wheat prices were pressured by seasonal factors – farmers are at final stage of winter wheat harvesting. Wheat has been gathered from 84% of the intended area (82% in 2016, 80% - the five-year average).

At the end of the week, the price reduction was limited by the hard spring wheat fields research data in the USA. According to the results of the research, the Wheat Quality Council estimated the average spring wheat yield at 35.8 bushels per acre, compared with 46.9 bushels per acre in 2016 and the five-year average at 46.6 bushels per acre. Hard winter wheat productivity is also below multi-year average for the second consecutive season.
