Egg price in Indonesia appreciates on feed price increase

18.07.2018

The retail price of chicken eggs in Indonesia has risen to USD 2.08/kg. This is significantly higher than what it was during the fasting month (USD 1.87) in May/June. Gembong Hardiato Nugroho, Chairman of the poultry farmers association in Banyumas, Central Java said the increase in feed prices is the main reason for the high price of eggs. Several feed raw materials have to be imported and the prices of the imported items are impacted by currency depreciation.

That is why feed producers decided to increase their feed prices, Mr Nugroho explained. Egg producers also want to make a profit, so they also raised the price of their eggs.
