Egypt has procured 70% of 4 mln T target in wheat harvest

Egypt has procured 70 percent of the 4 million tonnes it aims to buy from farmers in this year’s local wheat harvest, Agriculture Minister Abdel Moneim Al-Banna said on Wednesday.

The comment suggests Egypt has purchased around 2.8 million tonnes so far.

Egypt, the world’s largest importer of wheat, generally buys wheat from its own farmers from mid-April through July.
