Egypt sharply increased purchases of Romanian wheat


According to official statistics, over July-August 2017/18 Romania exported 1505.2 KMT of wheat to extra-EU destinations. Compared to the same period last season, shipments decreased by 6.5%, but were third largest for this period.

This season Egypt wins back the first place among the other non-EU countries, importing 552 KMT of wheat against just 128 KMT over July-August last season, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Moreover, better demand was seen from Jordan, Ethiopia, Sudan, Djibouti. South Africa, which imported 21 KMT over the whole last season, purchased 102.3 KMT.

This season, due to higher export potential of France Romania has lost market of Morocco, which imported 27.5 KMT over the reporting period last season.
