EU increased wheat imports from Kazakhstan by 27%


Kazakhstan exported 354.3 KMT of wheat in May 2017, or 3.5% more than in the previous month and 13.8% more than at the same time last year. 

This season’s total wheat exports from Kazakhstan increased slightly – by 2.8%. The country exported 3059 KMT of wheat from September 2016 till May 2017 against 2976 KMT in the same period of MY 2015/16, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Growth of shipments was observed for almost all the end markets of Kazakh wheat. So, in the period under review, Kazakh exporters boosted its wheat shipments to Uzbekistan by 18% and those to Tajikistan by 12%. Kazakhstan exported roughly 210 KMT of wheat to the European Union’s market at this time, or already 27% more than for the whole last season (165 KMT was shipped there in MY 2015/16).

Kazakh exporters managed to keep the pace of deliveries to China at the previous season’s level. 233 KMT of wheat was shipped to China from Kazakhstan in September-May 2016/17.
