Expansion of lentil plantings will make Kazakhstan the fourth top exporter


The 2017 spring field work results were considered today at the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The country’s planted areas totaled 22.5 Ml ha this year, or 650 Th ha more than in 2016, said the first deputy ag minister.

According to him, within the framework of planting diversification, high-demand crops were sown on 1.348 Ml ha that is 340 Th ha more than planned under the State program for agriculture development, informs UkrAgroConsult.

The official says the expansion of lentil plantings will bring Kazakhstan to the world’s fifth position in terms of acreage and the fourth position in terms of exports. In addition, this year’s sugar and oilseed production volumes are expected to increase 1.5 and 1.3 times, respectively.
