Four countries signed a memorandum to develop the Trans-Caspian route

In the course of a quadruple meeting with participation of Azerbaijani Railways Head Javid Gurbanov, Kazakhstani Railways President Kanat Alpysbayev, Turkish Railways CEO Veysi Kurt and Georgian Railways Chairman Mamuka Bakhtadze, the parties discussed the development prospects of the Trans-Caspian international transport route, issues of increasing freight traffic along this route and optimization of tariffs. Ultimately, they signed a memorandum of understanding on the route’s development prospects.

UkrAgroConsult reminds that an agreement was signed in Baku in April between the railway agencies of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan to set up a Trans-Caspian international transport consortium.

The consortium comprises Azerbaijan’s LLC ADY Express and ACSC Logistics, Kazakhstan’s JSC KTZ Express and Georgia’s LLC Trans Caucasus Terminals. The supervisory board includes one representative from each member company. Later, Ukraine’s UkrZaliznytsya and UkrFerry and Moldova’s Translogistic also entered the coordinating committee.

The Trans-Caspian international transport route runs across China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and further through Turkey and Ukraine to Europe. New tariffs are in effect on the route since June 2016
