Importer of food products worth about $ 2.2 billion, Ghana wants to reverse the situation and could become a net exporter of vegetables by 2020.

At the CITI BUSINESS FESTIVAL event, the GIPC (Ghana Investment Promotion Center) discussed the problems of national agriculture. The agency says that if the amount dedicated to imports was devoted to improving agriculture, the country would no longer need to import food.

Earlier, a representative of the Dutch Embassy in Ghana said that his country was ready to help Ghana (production, technology, marketing). Taking the example of Dutch onions imported by Ghana while Ghana can produce them. Investments, use of better methods and inputs of technology could boost agricultural production and make Ghana a net exporter of vegetables by 2020.
