Global pork trade to grow more competitive

10.07.2018

Competition in the global pork market will continue to grow and intensify, with the four main exporters—the EU, the US, Canada and Brazil—expected to increase volumes available for world markets, a report by Rabobank titled ‘World pork trade is becoming increasingly complex and competitive’ said.

China has become the most important destination for pork and pork by-products, while demand from other Asian countries for both low-value by-products and high value added products has also been rising. Meanwhile, political issues such as the ongoing China-US trade war and animal health issues will continue to make global trade more complex.
