Grain crop in Belarus gained 6.7% in 2017


Belarus harvested 8 MMT of grain in net weight in 2017, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) reports. According to the Committee, the total grain crop increased 6.7% against 2016, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The largest grain volume was gathered in Minsk region: 1.9 MMT, or 24.4% of the country’s total.

The average yield of cereals and pulses was 3.32 MT/ha in 2017 against 3.15 MT/ha in 2016.

Crop plantings in farms of all types totaled 5.834 Ml ha in 2017. Agricultural companies accounted for 90.8% of this area, private farms for 2% and part-time households for 7.2%.
