Groat production in Ukraine went down again


Ukrainian groat production in 2017 showed a downward trend again. 328.5 KMT of groats were produced in the country last year, i.e. 2.5% less than in 2016, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Of all the groats, the greatest fall was registered in output of rice groats, which was down 56% year-on-year at 11 KMT. In 2017, production of peeled barley groats dropped by 18.4% to 8.18 KMT, corn groats by 17.1% to 52.65 KMT, pearl barley groats by 15.4% to 7.92 KMT, and millet groats by 7% to 18.22 KMT.

Only production of buckwheat and oat groats grew in 2017. Output of buckwheat groats in Ukraine closed the year up 1.3% at 54.51 KMT and that of oatmeal increased by 52.6% to 5.51 KMT.

As a reminder, production of groats increased in 2016 for the first time since 2013.
