Import of margarine and spreads in Russia decreased by 6%

In January-November 2016 the volume of imports of margarine and spreads in Russia remained 6% below the respective last year's volumes (59,7 thousand tons versus 63.8 thousand tons in the amount of 131.4 million USD)
By the end of 2016 the volume of exports of Margarines and spreads may be of 65.0 thousand tons, which will be 8% lower import volumes in 2015.
In 2015, the import of Margarines and spreads to the Russian Federation amounted to 70,8 thousand tons (in the amount of USD 154.9 million), a decrease for the year by almost 2 times (or 67.4 t). This shortfall in import volumes was partially offset by an increase in domestic production: 2015 production of Margarines and spreads on the territory of Russia increased by 21.3 thousand tons to 686,0 thousand tons (+3.2 per cent).
The main suppliers of Margarines and spreads on the territory of the Russian Federation until 2015 was Ukraine (36% of imports in 2013), as well as Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Malaysia and several other countries.
For the first 11 months of the year 2016, the share of Sweden in the Russian import volume of margarine and spreads has increased to 45%, in second place came Italy with a volume of 10.7 thousand tons (18%), the third shifted Belgium (8.0 thousand tonnes, or 13%). The share of Ukraine amounted to less than 1% (0.8 thousand tons).
