In 2015/16 season Ukraine exported 11.5% less corn


According to preliminary data, in August 2016 Ukraine exported 136 KMT of corn, which is a two -fold decrease compared to August 2015.

Since the beginning of 2015/16 (September 2015 – August 2016) Ukraine exported 16.76 MMT of corn, which was 11.5% less than over the same period of 2014/15 – 18.92 MMT.

EU countries remain the key export market for Ukrainian corn, importing more than a half of Ukrainian corn exports in 2015/16. Despite the lesser purchases, China and Egypt also remained on the list of top importers in 2015/16.

Moreover, Ukraine managed to retain markets of Tunisia, Spain, Israel, Iran, Lebanon and Libya, except for market of Japan. In 2014/15 Japan imported 428 KMT of Ukrainian corn, but in 2015/16 - only 22 KMT.

According to UkrAgroConsult`s forecasts, in 2016/17 Ukraine will recover its corn export potential to the level of the previous seasons and will export about 19 MMT, retaining the market of EU as a key importer.
