In Russia, positive dynamics of population of pigs and poultry in agricultural organizations, while the dynamics of cattle population remains negative

According to Rosstat, by March 1 the number of poultry in agricultural enterprises of all sizes increased to 469,3 million head, which is 1.4% more than in February this year and 3.3% more than in March 2016. Compared to last year, the most marked increase in the number of birds in the Belgorod region (+4.6 million heads), in the Tula region (+2.9 million heads) and the Tambov region (+2.4 million heads).

The number of pigs continues to grow, but growth rates remain low. By 1 March the number had grown to 18.6 million head, slightly more than in February and 2.6% higher than in March 2016. The sharp increase in population in the Central Federal district (including the Kursk and Belgorod regions), in the northwestern Federal district and is less noticeable in the Urals and far East Federal district was restrained by his reduction in the southern Federal district, the Volga Federal district, Siberian Federal district and skfo. The number of pigs in the southern Federal district fell by 11.5% or $ 109 thousand heads, including in the Krasnodar region – 17%.

The number of cattle, according to March 1 this year amounted to 8,329 million head (-1,1% by March 2016.), including cows – up to 3,329 million head (-0,7%).
