Resolution of the government of the Russian Federation amended the Federal law "On fisheries and conservation of aquatic biological resources". Changed the allocation of total allowable catches of aquatic biological resources, reported on the website of the government of the Russian Federation.

In particular, the law introduced a new form of quotas – quotas are provided for investment in fisheries for industrial and (or) coastal fishing.

The total allowable catch of aquatic biological resources, defined in relation to the quota for investment purposes, shall not exceed 20% of the total allowable catches of aquatic biological resources.

The law also stipulates that from 1 January 2018 quotas for industrial fishing on the continental shelf and in the exclusive economic zone of the Russian Federation and quotas for coastal fishing in internal sea waters, territorial sea, continental shelf and the exclusive economic zone of the Russian Federation will be replaced by quotas for industrial fishery and (or) coastal fishing in marine waters.

In addition, it clarifies the range of persons who can carry out the fishery in educational and cultural-educational purposes and for the purposes of aquaculture (fish farming).
