In the CIS countries increased sales of confectionery products

In five years, sales of sweets in the CIS countries increased by 1.2% – from 4.37 million tonnes in 2012 to 4.42 million tonnes in 2016

Sales growth was driven by post-crisis consumption growth coupled with a growing range of products.

The share of flour products in overall confectionery sales increased from 48% in 2012 to 50% in 2016. The second place by sales was occupied by chocolate confectionery products, whose share in total sales of confectionery products in the CIS, 2012-2016 averaged 33%.

Sale of flour production showed a slight decline in growth rate in the crisis 2014-2016 – 0.5-3.1 percent annually. The strongest rate of decline in sales recorded in chocolate confectionery in 2014, 8,3% over the previous year.
