
India exports rice worth Rs 23,161.56 crore in Apr-Sep
India has exported rice worth Rs 23,161.56 crore in the first six months of the current financial year, Parliament was informed today.
India has exported 16.41 lakh tonnes of basmati rice in the April-September period of the current financial year, valued at Rs 13,846.95 crore.
On the other hand, 36.56 lakh tonnes of non-basmati rice was exported in the same period, valued at Rs 9,314.61 crore.
In the entire 2013-14 fiscal, exports of basmati rice stood at 37.54 lakh tonnes, valued at Rs 29,291.82 crore, while in the same period, outward shipments of non-basmati rice was 71.48 lakh tonnes, worth Rs 17,795.21 crore.
Meanwhile, Iran, one of the largest importers of rice from India, has imposed a temporary restriction on imports from October 19 this year.
