Indonesian government recommends import of 66,000t of beef


Indonesia’s Ministry of Agriculture has given import recommendations to 14 importers to bring in 66,158.5 tonnes of beef to the country for the horeca and meat processing industries. Of this figure, allocations for secondary cuts and industrial meat are 21,991 tonnes and 21,765 tonnes, respectively, while the remainder is for premium cuts. Sri Mukartini, Director of Veterinary Public Health said: “We don't use quarter-based import system anymore.

Beef import can be done throughout the year.” Of the 14 companies, Ms Mukartini said Agro Boga Utama (11,275.7 tonnes), followed by Indoguna Utama (9000 tonnes) and Bayu Jaya Lestari (7000 tonnes), received the largest import quota.
