Jordan buys 60,000 tonnes hard wheat in tender- trade

Jordan's state grains buyer purchased 60,000 tonnes of hard milling wheat to be sourced from optional origins in a tender for up to 120,000 tonnes which closed on Wednesday, European traders said.

It was bought at $225 a tonne c&f for shipment in the second half of September.

The trading house Cerealcom Dolj was the seller, they said.

Only two trading houses participated in the tender. The other offer submitted was $234.50 a tonne c&f and was submitted by trading house Ameropa.

Jordan has struggled to make purchases in a series of grain tenders in recent months, with traders saying uncertainty about quality controls and payment terms has reduced participation by major grain exporting houses.

But Jordan did make a purchase of 60,000 tonnes of feed barley in a separate international tender on Tuesday.

Jordan traditionally issued tenders for 100,000 tonnes but the volume has been increased to 120,000 tonnes because of extra port capacity, traders said.
