July’s wheat exports from Ukraine hit a new high


Ukraine exported a record some 960 KMT of wheat in July 2018/19, or 18% more than in July 2017/18, reports UkrAgroConsult.

During the reporting month, Ukrainian wheat was exported mainly to traditional destination markets such as the EU, Indonesia and Egypt. At the same time, shipments to Egypt were down 35% year-on-year at 75 KMT, but exports to Israel skyrocketed. This past month alone, the latter country purchased almost 104 KMT of wheat compared to 579 KMT in the whole of MY 2017/18.

Other major importers of Ukrainian wheat in July 2018/19 include Philippines and Yemen. It is worth noting that Africa is a key buyer of Ukrainian wheat. Its export share equaled 36% in July (342 KMT).
