Kazakh “records” were overestimated

The Agriculture Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported the results of the 2016 harvest campaign. The statistics update appeared to be not so impressive as suggested by promising figures obtained during the grain harvest in the country.

Firstly, the adjusted sown area of cereals and pulses in Kazakhstan appeared to be 65 Th ha smaller than announced after planting for the 2016 harvest was finished. The distribution of planted areas also changed and somewhat surprised us, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Secondly, conditioning losses of grain turned out to be above expectations. In particular, the wheat loss rate while finishing reached 10%. So, wheat yield equaled 1.21 MT/ha that is far below expectations (1.37 MT/ha) and just a bit higher than last season (1.18 MT/ha).
