Kazakh wheat imports to Italy hit a decade high
Wheat exports from Kazakhstan continued slowing down in February 2017. So, the country supplied235 KMT of wheat to foreign markets that month or almost 30% less than in February 2016.
Thus, the pace of wheat shipments from Kazakhstan decreased almost to last season’s level. Kazakhstan exported 2062.6 KMT of wheat in the first half of MY 2016/17, or just 2.5% more than at the same time a year ago.
Kazakh wheat deliveries to the EU market are still on the rise. As much as 153 KMT of Kazakh wheat was already shipped there in the period under review against 165 KMT in the whole 2015/16 season.
Most of this wheat – 127 KMT or 83% – went to the market of Italy. This is the largest volume of Kazakh wheat deliveries to Italy since MY 2007/2008. Also, comparable exports came to this market in MY 2011/12 МГ (125 KMT), but the current export pace suggests that Kazakh grain deliveries to Italy may exceed that amount in 2016/17, UkrAgroConsult notes.
