Kazakhstan exported around 6 MMT of grain

Since the beginning of this year, Kazakhstan has shipped abroad about 6 MMT of grain. This was announced by the Acting Director General of the Joint Stock Company "KTZ - Freight Transportation" at a briefing in Astana. According to him, this is 64% more than last year. Flour exports are growing. In total, more than 2 MMT of grain were transported by rail, including 1.7 MMT for exports, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Meanwhile, the countries of Central Asia, Iran, Afghanistan, China and Russia remained traditional export destinations. At the same time, according to the company’s representative, the problem of freight hoppers’ shortage still exists. Experts explain the deficit mainly by long down time of trains at stations and train tracks. To solve this problem, KTZ plans to attract carriers from other states.

According to the Statistics Committee of Kazakhstan, growers of all types held 15.6 MMT of cereals and pulses as of October 1, 2018, i.e. 13.1% less than on the same date a year ago (18.0 MMT).

Wheat inventories as of October 1, 2018 were 20.3% less year-on-year at 11.6 MMT, including 10,4 MMT of milling wheat, 593,8 KMT of feed wheat and 619.4 KMT of wheat for seed.

As of the reporting date, barley stocks totaled 2,76 MMT that is up 23.1% on the year, while those of corn were 214.5 KMT, rice – 223.6 KMT, rye – 22.9 KMT.
