Kazakhstan: favorable conditions for grain filling in winter wheat


The June 21-30 weather conditions were favorable for grain filling and full ripening. At the same time, precipitation events improved air and soil moisture supply to some degree. Winter wheat is at the stages of milky and full ripeness.

Spring cereals in the northern, eastern and central regions of Kazakhstan are primarily at the stages of three leaves to the emergence of the lower stem node. Early-sown wheat is at the stage of heading or even flowering, reports UkrAgroConsult.

In Akmola region, the average plant height of spring cereals reaches 23-34 cm. Their condition is mostly good, being fair in some areas. In Kostanay region, the state of spring cereals is mainly good and excellent. Their plant height averages 22-34 cm, or 6-20 cm in late-sown fields. In North Kazakhstan region, spring cereals are in good and excellent condition. Their average plant height ranges from 19 to 37 cm, while plants in late-sown crops are just 8-17 cm tall.

In Aktobe region, the state of spring wheat is mostly good, locally fair. Its development stages vary from the formation of nodal roots to the emergence of the lower stem node. Spring barley’s condition is good everywhere, its plant height reaches 55 cm.

In Almaty region, spring wheat is in good condition. Its stages range from tillering to heading, even waxy ripeness in some areas. Spring barley is at the stages of milky and full ripeness, while its late-sown plantings are at tillering to stem elongation.
