Kazakhstan. Frost events and precipitation hindered winter wheat planting
On October 11-20, winter wheat growing areas in the south and southeast of Kazakhstan witnessed an air temperature drop, night frost events of down to -1-6˚С (even to -9˚С in mountainous and sub-mountainous areas), and abundant above-normal precipitation. These meteorological conditions somewhat hindered pre-plant operations and planting of winter wheat.
Early-planted winter wheat is at the stages of germination and emergence. Its crops are mostly in good and excellent condition, reports UkrAgroConsult.
In the north of the country, above-normal precipitation contributed to the autumn process of soil moisture accumulation. However, at the same time, it made harvesting more difficult and delayed the close of spring grains harvest.
Farmers in East Kazakhstan region have started harvesting sunflower. In all of the regions, its crops are mostly in good condition, being mature for cutting.
