Kazakhstan increased wheat exports by 9%


In the 2017/18 season, Kazakhstan continues to export large volumes of wheat. Beginning from October 2017, monthly exports are close to the 2013/14 level, when Kazakhstan exported 4.46 MMT of wheat by the end of the season.

Within just four months of the 2017/18 MY, Kazakhstan exported 1.722 MMT of wheat to foreign markets that was 9% more than during the same period last season, reports UkrAgroConsult.

In December 2017, some 520.3 KMT of wheat were shipped to foreign markets, that was 44% more than on December 2016.

The destinations of wheat export from Kazakhstan have changed insignificantly in the current season. Mostly Asian countries were consumers of Kazakh wheat. Uzbekistan was the largest importer. Its share was 43% of total exports during the reporting period of the current season. Tajikistan, Afghanistan and China were also among the largest importers. The share of the EU countries accounted for 7% of the exports.
