Kazakhstan increasing flour exports to China


Flour exports from Kazakhstan shrank in April 2017. So, the country supplied 168.7 KMT of flour to foreign markets that month, or 16% less than in March 2017 and down 24% from the same time last year.

Kazakhstan exported 1597 KMT of flour for the eight months of 2016/17 season, up 5.4% year-on-year (1514 KMT was shipped abroad in September-April 2015/16), reports UkrAgroConsult.

The flour export share of Afghanistan expanded this season. This market absorbed 68% of total deliveries in that period against 54% in MY 2015/16.

Some growth is also observed in Kazakh flour shipments to the market of China. Kazakhstan supplied 9 KMT of flour to this market in September-April 2016/17 against 7.9 KMT exported for the whole last season.

On the contrary, export deliveries to other key end markets, such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, decreased.
