Kazakhstan. Linseed export market keeps hitting record highs

Linseed exports from Kazakhstan totaled 45.3 KMT in November 2017, up 64% against the previous month (27.6 KMT) but down almost 16% from November 2016 (53.9 KMT). Overall, linseed export shipments in the first three months of the 2017/18 season hold at a record level for this time of year: 92.6 KMT, or up 4.3% from last year’s 88.8 KMT, reports UkrAgroConsult.

As a reminder, growth of exports naturally resulted from the crop diversification, which had caused a 28% increase in oil flax plantings for the 2017 harvest.

In the current 2017/18 season, Kazakhstan continues stably supplying linseed to its traditional end markets, with almost a one-quarter increase in shipments to the EU (67% of total exports). Afghanistan reduced imports of Kazakh linseed by 12.2%, though it remains a major buyer with a 24% export share.
