Kazakhstan planning to step up soybean production


Kazakhstan is planning to expand the soybean planted area to 206 Th ha by 2021. Soybean plantings exhibit a steady upward trend. So, their total area has expanded by 58 Th ha over the past six years, to 129 Th ha in 2017 against 71 Th ha in 2011.

The Ag Ministry says that total soybean output in Kazakhstan increases. So, farmers harvested almost twice as much soybeans in 2017 (252 KMT) as in 2011.

According to the Ag Ministry, expanding the acreage of alternative remunerative crops is now a priority for the farming sector.

Kazakh plantings total some 21.8 Ml ha this year that is as much as in 2017.
