Kazakhstan plans to supply Azerbaijan with 1 MMT of grain per year

Kazakhstan plans to export up to 1 MMT of grain per year to Azerbaijan with main handling in Baku grain terminal. "Kazakh wheat is sent from the port of Aktau to the port in village of Hovsany (Azerbaijan), on the territory of which Baku grain terminal with a mill is located. Certainly, the terminal works with “Food Contract Corporation”, which exports grain crops to Azerbaijan. The part of grain is milled into flour. We also cooperate with Azerbaijani and Russian traders who are interested in grain handling through the terminal with further exports of commodities to Iran", said Yerzhan Baymukhametov, the deputy chairman of terminal’s board.

As reported, the terminal is able to store up to 15 KMT of grain temporary, while its handling capacity is 1.5 KMT of grain per day, which is about 300 KMT annually. In addition, flour production reaches 150 MT per day, which allows milling more than 50 KMT of flour per year. It is noted that Azerbaijan’s need for grain is about 3-3.5 MMT per year, reports UkrAgroConsult.
