Kazakhstan stepped up flour exports by 9% in MY 2017/18


Following a five-year record of 297.7 KMT set in November 2017, Kazakh flour exports slowed down to some degree. Kazakhstan supplied 245.3 KMT of flour to foreign markets in January 2017, i.e. 76% more than a year ago (139.8 KMT in January 2017). At the same time, its exports were down 9% from December 2017 (270.9 KMT).

Kazakhstan exported 1.17 MMT of flour during the first five months in MY 2017/18, or 8.5% more than at the same time last year, reports UkrAgroConsult.

As before, the top importer of Kazakh flour is Afghanistan. The country absorbed over 34% of its total exports from Kazakhstan during the first five months of the current season. In addition, the top importers steadily include Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. Deliveries of Kazakh flour to China decreased considerably this season. For now, they account for 0.2% of total exports (5.1 KMT).
