Kazakhstan stepping up sunseed exports to China

Kazakhstan exported 9 KMT of sunseed in October 2016. Although this year’s October deliveries are 6% lower than in the same month in MY 2015/16, the sunseed market became generally larger for the two months, reports UkrAgroConsult. Thus, 13.7 KMT of sunseed was exported in September-October 2016/17 against 10.5 KMT a year ago.

As expected, the trade cooperation with China in the market of oilseeds and oilseed products is gaining pace. Chinese partners not only show interest and invest in oilseeds crushing in Kazakhstan, but are also ready to import oilseeds. So, shipments to China have increased more than five times year-on-year, to over 6 KMT. Additionally, Turkey resumed sunseed deliveries from Kazakhstan this season – 0.3 KMT has been imported from that country.

Taking into account Kazakhstan’s further plans for expanding oilseeds production, it becomes obvious that the export figures will grow with time.
