Kazakhstan to continue expanding oilseed acreage in 2018


As the time of spring fieldwork draws closer, Kazakh growers increasingly often announce forecasts for the distribution of spring crop plantings, including figures for oilseed acreage.

So, plantings of oil crops in Kostanay region are predicted to gain 26.5% in 2018. Noteworthy is that oilseed areas already expanded by 30.5% in 2017, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Kyzylorda region will go the way of stepping up safflower production. This crop’s plantings will be expanded to 10 Th ha, or by 4 Th ha. In addition, it is planned to install a safflower processing line on LLC Turmagambet’s premises in 2018.

As a reminder, Kazakhstan’s State Program for Agriculture Development for 2017-2021 envisages an oilseed acreage expansion to 3 Ml ha and a crop increase to 3.046 MMT – the reasons are to include a yield rise to 1.02 MT/ha.
