Kazakhstan to deliver wheat to Iran through ports of Caspian Sea

During a visit of Kazakh delegation to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the parties discussed a possible removal of limitations on Kazakh wheat imports and "tax on flag" cancellation by Iranian Government to create equal conditions for Kazakh and Iranian shipping companies in the Caspian Sea.

During the negotiations, the heads of relevant departments agreed possible launch of joint investment projects for cultivation and processing of rice and priority oilseeds in Kazakhstan with further exports to Iran through ports of the Caspian Sea, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Iranian side suggested using an opportunity of Kazakh wheat processing at Iranian plants to sell processed products to other countries by means of Iranian transit potential.

In addition, JSC "Food Contract Corporation" took measures to increase export flows to Iran. In particular, the Memorandum on the delivery of 100 KMT of grain was signed. Besides, the parties reached an agreement with “Iran Feed Industry Association”, the largest in Iran, to export 200 KMT of feed crops from Kazakhstan to Iran, including rapeseed, cake and barley at the end of 2017.
