Kazakhstan. Very slow sprouting progress in the north

14.06.2018

Growing conditions for cereals in Kazakhstan were fair on May 21-31. Above-normal precipitation occurred everywhere, adding to atmospheric and soil moisture but somewhat impeded the completion of planting.

In the north, this year’s planting started later than usual because of weather conditions, reports UkrAgroConsult. The germination and emergence progress is very slow due to low temperatures. Favorable meteorological conditions for growing spring cereals were seen in the south of the country.

Kazakh farmers continue planting oilseeds. According to the Agriculture Ministry of Kazakhstan, 2754.7 Th ha had been seeded by June 11, 2018 (101.7% of the forecast area of 2711 Th ha). The seeding pace is 16% the progress of last year (15.2% last week). So, 2375.1 Th ha was seeded by the same date in 2017.

Sunflower sowing has begun in East Kazakhstan and Pavlodar regions after preplant tillage. Farmers continue sowing oil flax in Kostanay and North Kazakhstan regions and lentils in North Kazakhstan region.
