Kazakhstan. Weather conditions were unfavorable for growing winter crops

29.11.2018

On November 11-20, the weather conditions in winter wheat growing areas across the south and southeast of Kazakhstan were mainly unfavorable for crop growth. Night air temperature drops to -14-24°С, locally to -29°С, caused winter wheat plants in   Almaty and Jambyl regions to stop growing. Under snow-free conditions, this may result in winter killing of crops, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Abundant precipitation that occurred in winter wheat growing areas contributed to soil moisture accumulation. Winter wheat was in the stages of seed germination to emergence. Crop condition is good.

Winter wheat is everywhere entering winter in early development stages because of late planting.

Minimum soil temperature at the tillering node depth of winter wheat varied from 0˚С to 8-9˚С below zero, depending on the region.
