Kazakhstan will reduce wheat supply to the world market

The new grain season 2017/18 started in Kazakhstan in September. Below UkrAgroConsult will sum up the past season 2016/17 and discuss once again prospects for the new grain season.

So, as UkrAgroConsult predicted, grain exports from Kazakhstan did hit a five-year high in MY 2016/17. Kazakhstan supplied 7.9 MMT of grains to foreign markets this past season, or 5.3% more than a year ago.

Wheat accounted for 47.5% of exports (3.76 MMT, up 5.3% from the previous season).

Concerning 2017/18 season perspective, UkrAgroConsult does not expect any substantial decline in Kazakhstan’s grain export potential. Most likely, because of crop production decrease, mainly wheat, exports will also decline by 3-5%.
