Kosovo's 2016 wheat harvest covers 87% of domestic needs Kosovo's ministry of agriculture, forestry and rural development/All rights reserved.

Kosovo harvested 358,017 t of wheat in 2016, as the amount would cover around 87.3% of its needs, the country's agriculture ministry said.

Average yield stood at 4,410 kg per hectare, compared to 3,466 kg per hectare last year, the ministry said in a statement, published earlier this week.

In 2016, Kosovo put under wheat 84,500 hectares of land.

This was one of the best years for wheat production, due to the climate conditions, as well as to the farmers' work, the agriculture ministry said.
