Linseed exports from Kazakhstan set a record in the 2016/17 season

Linseed exports from Kazakhstan totaled 13.2 KMT in August 2017 that is down 38% from the previous month. They gained 86% from August 2016 (7.1 KMT).

Total linseed supplies to foreign markets reached a record 314.8 KMT in MY 2016/17 that is up almost 24% year-on-year (254 KMT in MY 2015/16), reports UkrAgroConsult. As a reminder, the 2016/17 rise in exportable stocks was made possible owing to a bumper linseed crop of 562 KMT (up 12% from the 2015 crop).

Kazakhstan continues diversifying end markets for its linseed exports. The number of importers has already reached 30 countries this season, or more than last season. The bulk of Kazakh export linseed is shipped to Europe (65% of total exports). Traditionally, the top importers still include Afghanistan (21%) and Uzbekistan (5%).
