Malaysian poultry stocks may gain from lower feed prices


According to Inter-Pacific Research Sdn Bhd analyst, David Lai, cheaper corn and soybean due to a bumper harvest in the United States, coupled with the slight appreciation of the Malaysian Ringgit against the USD, will result in cost-saving for local poultry producers.

Corn and soybean are the two major components in chicken feed. Feed cost accounts for more than 50% of a poultry producer's revenue, as corn and soybean are imported, while vitamins and supplements are locally-sourced.
