Moldova. Abundant precipitation replenished soil moisture content over the week


Diverse air temperatures and abundant precipitation were observed in the country between November 27 and December 3, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The average weekly air temperature was at +2..+4.5ºС, or 2-4ºС above normal. At the time, precipitation occurred in the form of rain, snow and sleet. Precipitation rates totaled 35-70 mm that is one or two times as high as monthly normal. Snow cover was registered in northernmost areas of Moldova on November 27 and December 2-3. Its height averaged 1-3 cm at weather stations.

Over the week, growth of winter crops continued in central and southern parts of the country, while in the north they grew slowly solely in the daytime for most of the time.

Winter wheat was at the stages of three leaves and tillering, while its late-sown crops were at emergence.
